Alright, so by now you have probably heard of the success the horror movie "Get Out" has had since making it's debut in theaters across the world grossing over one hundred million in box office sales its first week. This comes as a surprise to most seeing as how the writer Jordan Peele is wildly known for his comedy and success with his counter part Keegan Michael-Key in the hilarious Key and Peele show. Transitioning from being known as a comic to taken more serious in a horror film based off race is defiantly a hard plateau to reach, however Peele has done just that. Get Out, although dealing with racism in America, is a great horror movie to see. Written from the perspective of a interracial couple played by a high-strung, pessimistic Chris Washington (Daniel Kaluuya) and a exuberant yet oblivious Rose Armitage (Allison Williams). This movie takes the audience on a roller coaster journey into the lives of the Armitage family, and their sick demonic ways, as they invite Chris to their hideaway home in the woods, only to marinate him in their evil hypnosis. The movie does not surprise you in how they portrayed white people, in fact I was not to shocked at any of the white characters feelings towards black people at all. Maybe that just me watching too many movies like Django and Glory. Either way, Get Out gives you a simple negative emotion like racism and turns it in to what some of us have thought at least once or twice in our life how it might have been during slavery. Its not going to be the scariest movie you have or will see all year, however with so many comedies and poorly made horror movies. Get Out is a great date night movie. Just make sure that if you are in a interracial relationship you don't take to heart.
